- The "block style" format for letters on business letterhead is explained below:
- January 26, 1984 (date at left margin or centered, two lines below letterhead)
- Mr. Realman Eatquiche (starts at left margin, two to nine lines below date)
- 5693 Second Avenue (Spell out the number of the avenue if it's under 10.)
- Redwood City, California 94065 (Do not abbreviate the city or the state.)
- Dear Mr. Eatquiche: (two lines below inside address, flush with left margin)
- The body of every business letter starts two lines below the salutation, and is
- typed single spaced, with two lines between paragraphs. In block format, all
- text begins at the left-hand margin; paragraph indentations are not required.
- Margins are usually set at 10 and 70, or if the text is short, at 15 and 65.
- (The complimentary close is centered.) Cordially yours, (two lines below text)
- (Type company name in capital letters) HAMBURG & QUICHE, INC. (centered)
- (Leave four lines above writer's name) I. Emma Realwoman (for the signature)
- IER/TYP (writer's/typist's initials at left margin, two lines after typed name)
